Fishing is a story . . .
I’ve fished all of my favorite rivers from their mouths to their headwaters. And within those mile of opportunity, my favored spots keep calling me back. I fish these places for a hard reset, for a return to home base — for getting back to the familiar by seeing what has changed.

Interesting how long you stuck with your spots. If I caught two in a hole and then hit a drought I’d probably assume the spot is blown up and move on….
Well, I don’t stick with every spot like that. But I like to use my favorite pieces of water for a changeout spot.

Where can I get the styrofoam spools and 3″ reels you highlighted in the episode on changing tippets and leaders with pre built ones? This episode really gives hope to us slow knot tiers. Thanks
Just coming back into FF > a 30+yr break!
Hi Bob,
You can find the foam spools on Amazon or eBay. Loon also makes some.
You cannot buy the plastic spools for storing leaders anywhere. Trust me, I’ve tried to find a replacement. Eventually, I started selling leaders, and I now buy those spools from Germany in quantities of 1000. Your best solution is to simply buy a few maxima spools and save them for leader storage. That’s what we’ve all done for many years.
Hope that helps.
Cheers.
