PODCAST: — Coffee and Secrets (a story), and Catching Up — S9 Intermission

The Troutbitten Podcast is available everywhere that you listen to your podcasts.

** Note **  The Podcast Player, along with links to your favorite players is below.

Here we are in the middle of season nine, and we’re doing something a little different. This is like an intermission between sets.

My wife, Becky, is here, and we’ll catch up on a few Troutbitten things, like updates to the Recommended Gear page and the upcoming fall leader sale.

I also have a listener email to share that really gets to the heart of what we all love about being out there on the water.

And then, I read one of my favorite Troutbitten stories from the archives. It’s titled, Coffee and Secrets, and I think it strikes at a similar sentiment about the intangible motivations that keep us involved in a fishing life.

Troutbitten on the WadeOutThere Podcast

Troutbitten on the WadeOutThere Podcast

I had the pleasure of talking shop with Jason Shemchuk of the WadeOutThere podcast. It’s a tactical but casual conversation that digs deep. I probably talked too fast and too often, and I got excited about the material, as usual. But those who know me will tell you that this is about as much DOM as there is anywhere on tape. That’s a tribute to Jason, because he’s easy to talk with and steers an interview with grace . . .

Leaders in the Troutbitten Shop

Leaders in the Troutbitten Shop

Troutbitten leaders are now available in the Troutbitten Shop. These are hand tied leaders in four varieties: Harvey Dry Leader, Standard Mono Rig, Thin Mono Rig, and Micro-Thin Mono Rig. Standard Sighters are also available, and they include a Backing Barrel. The Full Mono Rig Kit contains each of the three Mono Rig leaders.

All Troutbitten leaders come on a three-inch spool, making long leader changes a breeze.

The Troutbitten Shop Launches: Tees, Hoodies, Hats, Stickers and Canvas Prints

Today marks the completion of a significant Troutbitten project. After a full year in development, the Troutbitten Shop has launched. For sure, this is the conclusion of one phase and the beginning of another, as I’ll continue to add designs and products for the shop in the coming seasons.

The Troutbitten Shop starts with tees, hoodies, hats, stickers and canvas prints. These items feature logos and original designs, artfully printed on high end materials. I took no shortcuts.

Troutbitten has grown from the seeds of your support. Troutbitten readers have made all of this possible, and I’m thankful to be part of a community of anglers who live a life on the water.

I invite you to look around the shop a bit. I’m proud of what is here, and I’m excited for the future.

Here’s a quick rundown of the shop parts . . .

Troutbitten Featured in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette

Troutbitten Featured in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette

My friend, Steve, texted me yesterday to ask if I knew that my name was in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette sports section. Since my mediocre Little League baseball career ended at twelve years old, I’d figured that my chances at making the sports section of any paper were shot. But to my surprise, there it was, both online and printed in the Sunday paper.

And I have to admit that it makes me smile. I grew up reading the PPG, and I still do. As a home grown western Pennsylvania boy, I follow my Steelers, Penguins and Pirates with devotion.

Presenting at the Cabin Fever 2018 Expo

This Sunday, I’m speaking about the Mono Rig at the annual Cabin Fever Expo in Mars, Pennsylvania (Sponsored by Penn’s Woods West Trout Unlimited)  My slot is at 2:00 pm. I’m looking forward to this one.

  1. Another great cast. Becky really brings it. Very well done. Can’t wait for the sale. Love the Coffee and Secrets story. I remember reading that one and smiling afterwards. Your TP references are fantastic. He was an amazing writer, musician and could get into your soul with his craft. Keep up the wonderful work. Much appreciated. Be well.

  2. Here is a project for Becky for 2024 🙂 Shipping to Canada. Why should we Canucks be deprived of Troutbitten swag? Just sayin……
